when will we woman get real freedom...?? R ecently, a friend of mine texted me saying he had some good news to tell! Expecting it to be him getting married, I asked him if it were so? He replied with an affirmative for the wedding but his sister's wedding. I was shocked for awhile after reading that text as she was very young and had recently completed her graduation.  He said the wedding is expected to be held around this year in December or maybe in February 2017. Though it was none of my business but still curious to know why was she getting married so soon, I asked him if it was an arranged marriage because if it was, then I would definitely talk some sense to both his sister and his mom.  He denied saying, 'It's love getting arranged into an arranged marriage.'  And before I could even ask about the guy, he quickly filled that piece of information as well- 'you must be knowing this guy! He is a gujju and owns this shop in the market!'...

The Value Of Seventy

Image
7 0th independence day!  15th August, 1947 when India got independence, we thought we are free! We are independent! No more serving the British!  So many brave people laid their lives for us to get independence, so many of them!  But today, after 70 years, when we are putting photos on social sites of our beloved tri-color, and captions of patriotism, wishing each and everyone 'Happy Independence Day', do you think we are really independent? Are we using our freedom in the right way?  Everyday we hear news of girls getting raped!  Politicians filling their pockets rather than serving the country!  More and more corruption! Everywhere!  Pollution and population are uncontrollable! Female infanticide! The nature being chopped off from sheer existence for more concrete jungles!  Fights on religions and caste systems!  Ignorance towards farmers,  soldiers and athletes (other than cricket), education system, the overall g...

“ Y ou are so fat!”, said someone. “You need to join a gym and lose that weight!”, said another. “You are fat and ugly and disgusting!”, exclaimed someone. When someone says that being fat is ugly or disgusting, they really need to understand than fatness is not ugly, period. I as a kid always loved eating cake and biscuits, but I was active in sports and cultural activities too. When puberty hit me, I started gaining weight and the only sports the teachers at my school would ask me to participate were “tug-of-war” or “kabaddi”. The people at my school would make fun of me, would call me “fatty” and would never talk to me. By the time I was 15; I had lost most of the “so-called” friends and had lost all hope of having any left in the near future. I had lost all my self confidence by then! When I had to leave my town for studying grad, I was scared to go because even there people won’t talk to me or would bully me! But the truth turned out to be differe...

Unrequited Love.

Image
L ove comes in different forms... It’s a weird feeling... The feeling might be mutual or not, be accepted by the other person or not!! But the feeling is weird!! It is said that one sided love is one of the purest form of love! It doesn't expect the other person to accept us, or reciprocate to our feelings... But we still love them; wish the best for them, and always have a shoulder for them to lean their head on and ears to listen to whatever they say. Imagine. You are in love with someone; someone who you have always thought to be perfect (or looked perfect with all of his imperfections). A couple of years ago, when you opened your heart about your feelings for him, he walked away saying he is not looking for any commitment and he fears of ending the beautiful friendship bond you both share. You let go all the feelings because you want him in your life. He comes back and with no option left, you start hiding your feelings so he thinks you have moved ...
