Review : It's All In The Planets !!

What is with fate? Or destiny? Or karma? Is it true? Or is it just some belief? Or something that we just follow? Or is it Science?

Some people do believe in it, blindly, some say it's science and a bit of mathematics.

Personally, I won't say that I believe in it too much, but yes, I do have the curiosity to know what is kept for me, what's in the future. One thing which I have experienced was when I was struggling to get a job a year ago, and this well known astrologer in Panvel, Navi Mumbai, had predicted I would be employed by the month of May, and it turned out to be true. On May 11, 2015 I got not one, but 2 job offers and I selected the company I currently work for.

Since then, I am curious to know more about the future. Maybe it was a mere coincidence or maybe it was destiny. Maktub!

The story of this novel - It's All In The Planets, by Preeti Shenoy, has similar concepts. About destiny.

A story of Aniket, 27, a techie who works in a software company in Bangalore; his friend Subbu, who is  a nerd, and who eats, breathes and talks codes and Trish, 24, a sexy model and Aniket's girlfriend.

And about Nidhi, 32, who works as a freelance writer for a lot of different portals and teaches pottery. She had quit her well paying corporate job, and was engaged to Manoj, who is a techie again and is as good as Mr. PERFECT.

Aniket and Nidhi meet on a train, to a common destination - Chennai.

They start talking, and in a couple of hours it felt, for both of them, as if they are old long lost friends.

Nidhi agrees to be Aniket's relationship couch and later his weight loss couch as well.

The story revolves around them, majorly and it has both Ani's (that's what he is addressed as by all of them) and Nidhi's version. Aniket is a Leo star sign and Nidhi is a Sagittarius.
Above each of their horoscopes, there's a daily forecast by an astrologer who happens to play a small yet vital role in the story.

There's a paragraph I loved the most in the book -
"in our lives, we come across people who are destined to be soul-mates. With soul mates, every part of our body comes alive. You know that person is your soul-mate, as you instantly fit together, you have a strong sense of déjà vu and you think alike. You are a lot in sync."

True.

It's all about a chain of events that have an effect on the lives of all of the characters.

Some things, as they say, are all in the planets!

I would rate this book a 4 out of 5, as unlike other Preeti Shenoy's books, which I have read, didn't make me think about life/relationships from a new window of thoughts (other than the soul-mate thing and yes, some things are destined to happen).

Happy Reading!!
