Review : THARKI by Kunal Marathe.
Name of the book: Tharki
Author: Kunal Marathe
Published by: Legendary Books India
Number of Pages: 202
Genre: Non-Fiction
The story is of a guy from a middle-class Maharastrian family, wherein it is very common for the parents to work hard to make sure their child goes to the best possible school/college and pursue great careers, falls in love with a girl at his school - Tara. While the love story takes an abrupt yet a dramatic twist, the story gets nothing but more interesting.
The author and the protagonist
of the story – Kunal, goes through a series of repercussion post his break up
with Tara; he gives up his dream career in Merchant Navy and lands up in a
dingy room where all he does is smoke his lungs out and becomes a drunkard.
His constant
friends during his bad (and later, the good) days were Hari and Mahesh.
The story has its
own twists and turns that not only makes you turn the page to next and read
more but it keeps the reader intrigued with suspense!
Kunal not only has
written the story pretty beautifully with just the correct amount of love, drama, action
and thrill but also has penned it down in simple English where you can connect
almost instantly.
I finished reading
this wonderful book in less than 5 hours or less and had my heartbeats rising
and slowing down as and when the story progressed. It is definitely not just a
romance read where the town is painted pink and goes well but it is a story which
most of us have would have been through – love and betrayal!

I would give this a
definite 5 stars out of 5 and waiting for part 2 and 3 (as confirmed with him.)
The book makes me
think of the great saying – Do not judge
the book by its cover!
