As we boarded the plane and took our seats, I had a strange feeling inside my heart. "Finally, here we are! Off to Leh Ladakh!" I said to my best friend, who looked at me and had a big smiled glued on her face. As the plane took off, I started telling her about Punjab, the culture and how they talk.  Unknowingly I had a Punjabi accent while talking at which she kept laughing all the while. 2 hours and 10 minutes later, as we reached nearer to Chandigarh, my heart started pounding faster. Punjab! Mitti di khusboo, the people, gurdwara! Koyal kooke hook uthaye Yaadon ki bandook chalaye Baagon mein jhoolon ke mausam wapas aaye re Ghar aaja pardesi tera des bulaye re The song from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge played in the back of my mind. As we landed at the Chandigarh airport and got down the plane, I looked around, took a deep breath and smelt Punjab. The familiar smell hit my nostrils and a big smile spread across my face. Nostalgia! As we entered the...

Silence is an Answer!

You know what is frustrating? Getting mixed vibes. Giving confusing signals. Keeping someone waiting! You know what is the saddening? Someone saying 'I could not say bye to you', or 'I didn't want to leave you and go.' and yet, s/he leaves or makes one feel that they did. You know what is the worst thing to do? Make someone believe you like them and that there's something special between you two and then, then just leave them on double blue tick marks or on a read message! Life is simple. But you know what is more difficult to understand than a woman? It is, understanding a Man. Yes, it is. Well, in most cases! One day he is there with you, making you smile, fall for him, caring for you or pulling you closer in the blanket because it's cold and windy and then, a few days later he won't even revert to your messages, let alone be striking a conversation first. As emotional as we girls are, we fall for their such rare chivalry. We like the ...

"Let’s play a game! First Impressions!" Manav exclaimed. Everyone stopped playing cards and looked at him intently. With his trademark broad smile, he continued, "Yes. First Impressions. We all will share our first impressions about each one in this room and then we'll also have to tell how that person is now." Everyone echoed simultaneously, "Yes! That's fun." She giggled at the thought of this game and the 1st person she thought was the one she met during this trip and loved the most. She started sharing her 1st impression about him and how she judged him for being so aloof and who looked so lost on the very first day of their trip. She had mocked his fashion sense with the bag he was carrying with him. "What about now?" Manav asked her. She looked at him, who she swore as her son, who was the first person she would go and check on after waking up, help him pack his bags every single day, in spite of an i...

The man with a plan. "Believe me, it is all destiny!" he said raising his left hand and waving it in the air, while his right-hand firm on the steering wheel of the car. I shake my head slowly in disdain, looking out the window enjoying the view of beautiful Kashmir. He sees through the rear mirror and continues, "Everything is planned by that one supreme power. You call it God, in whichever form you believe in, but it is. Start believing it and you'll see it is true." I smile meekly and nod, still trying to connect the dots inside my head and come to a sensible point. We drive through the beautiful valleys, off beat roads, and river which followed us endlessly! We reach Sonamarg around 5 in the evening, and the view from the hotel was indeed breathtaking! Magnificent green hills and a stream of a river flowing carelessly. Alongside were some wild horses eating at the lush pastures. I feel home. I feel lively. I forget that I had an aching knee....

How funny it is, that one song, one book, one movie, or even a small Facebook detail, which apparently you forgot to delete along with that person, the photos and all that check-ins you had put with him can bring back a lot of memories!! Today, while checking my Facebook account, I had a random thought of checking what my profile looks like and edit if required. I click on "About" and see a lot of options listed on the left hand side and start checking them one by one. First,  I clicked on " Details about You " and edited the " About you " section making it short, crisp and to the point. Followed by, the contact details, Family and relationships, and later I click on " Life Events " and wonder, "Huh, nothing memorable so far in the year 2017! Better make some remarkable moments in coming 6-7 months". While scrolling the listed events, I came across one such detail, which made me glare at the screen blankly and I turned a...
