REVIEW ON 2 STATES - THE MOVIE :)

2 STATES
DIRECTED BY :- KARAN JOHAR & SAJID NADIADWALA
PRODUCED BY :- ABHISHEK VARMAN
BASED ON THE NOVEL - 2 STATES WRITTEN BY CHETAN BHAGAT
LEAD STARS :- ARJUN KAPOOR & ALIA BHATT

THE protagonist of "2 States", Mr. Chetan Bhagat's apparently the autobiographical novel in English , and its Hindi film adaptation of the same ,  released this Friday dated 18 April 2014.

The story is about an IIT Engineer guy from Delhi - Krish Malhotra and an Economics Topper girl from Chennai - Ananya Swaminathan who meet & fall in love in one of the India's most famous educational institute - IIM Ahmedabad.

Their romance is wonderful and minus the melodrama and villains, like many Indian movies under "romance" genre. However, there's quiet a traditional and homely touch in it.

at the end of the 2 years of IIM they needed to strengthen their relationship. So, that meant "MARRIAGE"!! And for them it seemed quite easy to make their respective families fall in love with thier choice and apparently accept it.

Nonetheless, it is not as easy for them as they thought as the Malhotra’s and the Swaminathan’s not only belong to 2 different states and have diverse cultures, but they seem to have some disgust for each other.

The Swaminathan’s are “tamil-Brahmin” whereas the Malhotra’s are typical “Punjabi”. Where on 1 hand, the swaminathan’s feel these Punjabis are “terribly uncultured”, on the other hand, the mommy malhotra feel the “madrasan chudail (witch)” who has phasao (caught) her son very badly!!

While looking for a match for their children, the Punjabis look at the number of cars / petrol pumps and the amount they will get in the dowry. Whereas the South Indians (or TamBrahms) look for the number of engineers in the States!!

The arrow of narrow-minded discrimination is intended, but not harshly enough.

The various comic comments make this movie as an epic one.

For example, when Krish visits Ananya’s house, he sees limited furniture there and thinks “ as if the thieves took all and left the sofa couch behind” or similarly later, when Ananya visits his family in Delhi and sees how his family talks about “money” in marriage of Krish’s cousin!!

Though these comments are not very insensitive, they just make it feel “realness” of the story J

The story is not reasonably typical like the “rich poor love story” or of usual of “villains” in a “love story”

All in all,  the film people didn't let the charisma of the story in the book fade!! the story in the film is unchanged and as cute as on screen as in the book :)

This film is unrepentant comedy and has beautiful sound tracks too.

I will give this movie 5 star out of 5 :)

It will leave you will all kinds of emotions when you leave your seat in theater...!!

Go watch this movie in the nearest multiplex/theater of ur city :)

:) THANK YOU :)
