The Value Of Seventy

Image
7 0th independence day!  15th August, 1947 when India got independence, we thought we are free! We are independent! No more serving the British!  So many brave people laid their lives for us to get independence, so many of them!  But today, after 70 years, when we are putting photos on social sites of our beloved tri-color, and captions of patriotism, wishing each and everyone 'Happy Independence Day', do you think we are really independent? Are we using our freedom in the right way?  Everyday we hear news of girls getting raped!  Politicians filling their pockets rather than serving the country!  More and more corruption! Everywhere!  Pollution and population are uncontrollable! Female infanticide! The nature being chopped off from sheer existence for more concrete jungles!  Fights on religions and caste systems!  Ignorance towards farmers,  soldiers and athletes (other than cricket), education system, the overall g...

Beauty doesn't have a size!!

Image
“ Y ou are so fat!”, said someone. “You need to join a gym and lose that weight!”, said another. “You are fat and ugly and disgusting!”, exclaimed someone. When someone says that being fat is ugly or disgusting, they really need to understand than fatness is not ugly, period. I as a kid always loved eating cake and biscuits, but I was active in sports and cultural activities too. When puberty hit me, I started gaining weight and the only sports the teachers at my school would ask me to participate were “tug-of-war” or “kabaddi”. The people at my school would make fun of me, would call me “fatty” and would never talk to me. By the time I was 15; I had lost most of the “so-called” friends and had lost all hope of having any left in the near future. I had lost all my self confidence by then! When I had to leave my town for studying grad, I was scared to go because even there people won’t talk to me or would bully me! But the truth turned out to be differe...

Unrequited Love.

Image
L ove comes in different forms... It’s a weird feeling... The feeling might be mutual or not, be accepted by the other person or not!! But the feeling is weird!! It is said that one sided love is one of the purest form of love! It doesn't expect the other person to accept us, or reciprocate to our feelings... But we still love them; wish the best for them, and always have a shoulder for them to lean their head on and ears to listen to whatever they say. Imagine. You are in love with someone; someone who you have always thought to be perfect (or looked perfect with all of his imperfections). A couple of years ago, when you opened your heart about your feelings for him, he walked away saying he is not looking for any commitment and he fears of ending the beautiful friendship bond you both share. You let go all the feelings because you want him in your life. He comes back and with no option left, you start hiding your feelings so he thinks you have moved ...

S ometimes in our life we meet someone… Someone who has similar eclectic tastes, just like you! Both have a similar goals, goals to earn enough money to buy a sea facing apartment, and live happily with cats. And, when you happen to meet such a person, you feel like you have met your soul-mate and you cannot help but dream of living the rest of your life with him! You get onto your right elbow a...

Winters In My Heart

Image
It was one of those warm, pleasant summer nights. The air was filled with a certain aura of calmness, almost battling with our hearts, and the cold that was seeping within. There were hugs and tears, laughter, photographs. It was as if there was no tomorrow, and that night was the only night, to capture each moment, each tear, each memory for a lifetime because there wasn't going to be another.   Tears welled up in my eyes as well, it felt like a part of me was leaving me, and piece by piece, even I was breaking apart. These faces, these smiles, it was time to say goodbye. My eyes searched, searched for that someone who I was going to miss the most.   He was hard to find, always amongst people, always a bit hard to reach. But his presence brought with him, comfort and warmth and safety. My eyes searched. And there he was.  Tears rolled down my eyes like raindrops falling relentlessly from the sky, so sad to realise that this momen...

My Second Hand Jawani

Image
As tacky and dumb the title may seem, but there's so much to ponder, about this. I've always been around with people who are looking for their "one true love" or haven't ever dated. As weird as it may sound, I find that it's beautiful. That every other person doesn't want to jump into someone else's pants just because "society" asks them to. But there always has been differences in opinion. A person like me, who has dated once and had a not so happy ending kind of a story, those opinions on love have changed. In a country like India where bollywood, people, surroundings build a picture of that perfect soul mate, it's really not that hard to wish for the same. And it's not wrong. Yet, I beg to differ. And I may be wrong and they be right to see the better version of life, because once I had done that too and ended in the biggest mess of my life. They say, you need to wait, you'll find him. You'll know it when ...

VIRGINITY isn't a DIRTY word!!!

Image
What is Virginity? According to the dictionary the definition is: Noun - the state of never having had sexual intercourse. That is, it is an “ adjective ” which states that whether an individual has had sexual intercourse or not. However, there is no medical or biological definition of virginity. None!! Nothing!! There is no real definition of virginity except for, you know, the one in the dictionary, which defines it as “the state of never having had sexual intercourse.” India is the country that gave the world, the biggest knowledge on sex under the name of Kama Sutra - an ancient Indian Hindu text written by Vatsyayana and is widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior in Sanskrit literature. Kama Sutra means "Kama" which is one of the four goals of Hindu life, means desire including sexual desire and "Sutra" literally means a thread or line that holds things together, and more metaphorically refers to an ap...
